“Anonymous Housewife Seeks Help With Bible-y Stuff”

Just a regular silly comic strip today because the internet has been crazy here last night and this morning! It is a follow up to this comic strip which was the result of this comic strip where Laura, the Tidy List Maker, has gotten carried away again with one of her lists.

Please consider taking this poll. I realized this week that I’ve gotten way off of what I had sort of set up as a “comic strip posting schedule,” and so there hasn’t been a “Flamethrower Mommy and Ghost Dad” or “Laser Eyes Jesus” this week. Looks like that happened with a few others too, however they aren’t always posted weekly. But maybe there are some which ar not weekly but should be?!?

Anyway, the point is that if there’s a comic strip that is particularly popular, I want to make sure that I post a new one at least every week whenever I can! This poll should help with that goal.

“Just Checking On You, Buddy!”

With the recent loss of my job, I am exploring some income possibilities through my graphics. Most every artist would like to be able to support themselves through their work, and that had been a dream of mine many years ago. But that was before the internet, WordPress, and Nickel Boy Graphics! So let’s see how this goes! (The job loss was due to a company transition which I believe was better for a majority of the company’s employees, just not necessarily me, but I’m not holding any bad feelings!)

I’ve tried several coffee mug designs with Zazzle, a custom printing company. After a few previous trials and adjustments, I believe I’ve got the font sizes adjusted properly for the Zazzle printing team. The only way to truly test these items is to order them and see how the final product looks. They look really good when designing online, but the preview is not necessarily accurate due to the equipment used for custom items. That’s understandable, and I don’t want to offer anything that I wouldn’t want myself! Seriously.

My trial mug orders were a learning experience, but a good one! So here is a real coffee mug that looks nice with colors close to the original drawings and with a font size that is clear and readable!

Although I would really like to incorporate speech balloons for these, the font size becomes a problem. They are readable, just not what I want you to have! But I’m going to keep working on it!

These coffee mugs are available in different sizes and styles, however I used the smaller size to better check the font readability. There is one design for each of comic strips (some funny, some serious). So you can choose your favorite or one that has particular significance to you.

Here’s the link to get to the new online store for Nickel Boy Graphics at Zazzle!

Currently there is only one Collection that has been built, and that’s for coffee mugs. There’s a coffee mug for each of the comic strips (some funny, some serious), and several for “The Lloyd Servant Show”! I’ve tried out and ordered several different ones to make sure that these are something that I would want myself!

I will add more collections of other items like T-shirts once I’ve tested out the products myself and can be sure that they are something that I would want for myself! (You may see a few item that come up as “No Longer Available” because they were trials that just didn’t work for me.)

Although I’m still getting accustomed to Facebook, I believe I’ll be using it more now to help keep product promotion at WordPress to a minimum.

Regular readers, please let me know what you think. Good or bad or indifferent, I value your objective opinions and suggestions more than I can say! Thanks!

“You Have Some Serious Issues, Sweetie!”

I remember the first time I ever heard the word “issue” used in a work setting. It really stuck in my mind and gave me a bad “taste”…if that’s possible for a word to do.

I was accustomed to saying, “This is something that we will need to work on together.”

Then people changed from calling something an “issue” to calling it a “challenge” because that sounds sort of bold and daring…almost like “Star Trek” in a way.

Maybe “challenge” was too easily associated with the phrase “insurmountable challenge,” and so the new word became “opportunity.” That one word seemed to make everything optimistically better!

For me, I still like “something we need to work on together.” It takes more words, but it makes me think more about people. It’s not an “Amazing Flaw Concealer” way of handling things.

And just between you and me, Readers, I think Helena has a lot of “things we need to work on together”!

“Eat Your Chocolate Bunny And Get On With Your Life!”

Sorry for the delay! I woke up and did a total rewrite! And with no coffee or chocolate bunny! Hopefully I’ve got it right now!

This “Public vs. Private” is not really advice that I want to use to shape my life, but why is that?

Hypocrisy was probably the biggest criticism Jesus had for the religious leaders in Israel. Hypocrisy is probably the biggest reason Christianity is being rejected. People do see the difference between public life and private life.

How can the thing that Jesus criticized so strongly back then now be a major criticism of the religion based on His life and teachings? Where did we go wrong? I think perhaps the key lies in whether or not we embrace Jesus.

But what does “embrace Jesus” involve? Somehow I don’t think it’s about saying “Alleluia! Christ is risen!” and then eating your chocolate bunny and getting on with your life like nothing had happened.

We embrace Jesus because He never said “I’m here to start a new set of religious beliefs and practices called Christianity.” Instead, He said, “I’m here to establish God’s kingdom. Here’s what that looks like.” Then He sent the Holy Spirit. The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead now allows us to embrace Jesus in all that He is and all that He taught and even in all the modern situations that no one had imagined centuries ago.

This is the real power of Easter, when we embrace Jesus with all of our weakness and inabilities through the Holy Spirit, He does in us what we cannot do in ourselves, and our beliefs and practices are good and right and pleasing to our Heavenly Father.

“If Any Of This Really Mattered…”

So I’ve had several persistent inquiries about Facebook.

To be truthful, “several” means “less than six,” and “persistent” means “all coming from the same person.”

Thank you Christians In Motion! (Great content there for everyone!)

I’ve got to say, I’m not a Facebook user myself. Though I tried to be. I got one “friend,” and that was way too overwhelming!

Anyway, I’ve tried out a Facebook Page some this week. I think I have the “Settings”right. So here goes!

I don’t want to just completely duplicate everything that is in WordPress.

So I’m trying just posting the graphic strip and a link back to WordPress to read more.

I’m also intending to post on Facebook some things that just don’t seem to fit in WordPress like “Here’s a sketch for a new character” or “I’m thinking about doing this…What do you think?”

This is really just a trial to see how it goes. For any of you who are regular Facebook users, if you see me making a huge goof, please let me know!

Just for the record, I was great at “paint-by-numbers” and I think they are a “thing”now on Pinterest. Oh, no! More social media! Yikes!

Notice how I had to use “graphx”because “graphics”was too many letters? My first board is “Paint-By-Numbers”!

And also just for the record, all of this isn’t because I matter. It’s because Jesus matters. A lot.
