So what do you think it was like for Jesus before He was born of Mary in Bethlehem? Was He in his comfortable recliner, feet propped up, all ready to see how the plot unfolded? Was He majorly disappointed and even upset when almost immediately mankind sinned and suddenly needed to be rescued?
who, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God as something to be exploited, but emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, being born in human likeness. And being found in human form, he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death—even death on a cross. Philippians 2:6-8 (NRSV)
…the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. Revelation 13:8 (NRSV)
Death was part of God’s original plan. It is the ultimate expression ofGod’s love for us in the form of a Lamb who was slain. It was not begrudgingly done. It was necessary for us to be able to love Him freely.
This, I believe, is Real Life Jesus.
